Initiating Rural Development Through Deccan Grameena Bank For Upliftment Of Poorer Sections

One of the major developments in the banking sector in India has been the start of Gramin banks all over the country since the year 1976. It was in this year that the Act of Regional Rural Banks was passed by the government of India. as an after effect of this act, most of the states in India started setting up local Gramin banks, with branches mostly in the villages. This was aimed at improving the banking facilities in these rural areas and providing account deposits and loan credits for the farming and non-farming activities by the villagers. Lots of districts in different states have seen the setting up of such Gramin banks after the Act was passed in India.

  • Genesis of Deccan Grameena Bank

Further to the passing of 1976 Act, there was the merger of four Gramin banks in Andhra Pradesh, giving rise to the Deccan Grameena Bank in 2006, with its headquarters in Hyderabad. The four banks were Sri Saraswathi Grameena Bank in Adilabad, Sri Rama Grameena Bank in Nizamabad, Sri Satavahana Grameena Bank in Karimnagar and Golcanda Grameena Bank in Ranga Reddy districts. After the merger, about 5 districts in the state were covered by the DGB and there are about 243 branches in the state. Sponsoring this bank are the State Bank of Hyderabad and the central and state governments. Over the years this bank has grown quite large and is presently operating like any other public sector bank in the country, with its operational and organisational structure as strengthened as these banks.

  • Job offers in plenty in DGB

To be part of this prestigious Gramin bank in Andhra Pradesh, a lot of job opportunities are being offered by Deccan Grameena Bank. Such a huge number of branches require sufficient skilled manpower, due to which there is recruitment of officers and office assistants in these banks at regular intervals. Interested candidates can apply for the office assistant posts in the Group B category.

Group A category has officers in different management scales such as senior, middle and junior grades. The DGB comes up with job notifications to fill up these positions in different branches, which can be opted for by the banking aspirants.

  • Recruitment into DGB through IBPS facilitates jobs – Jobs in Deccan Grameena Bank can be secured by the aspiring candidates by appearing in written exams, which were conducted by the bank itself, before the year 2011.
